Become a Host Family

Moreton Bay Colleges International Homestay Programme offers Australian families the opportunity to welcome international students into their homes. You may have previously been a host family, or never hosted before. Right now, we are looking for families that want to offer a rich cultural and family environment for international students who will be attending The Moreton Bay Colleges. We invite you to become part of our programme today. 

Key Considerations 

What does my family need to do?

Your family should be able to provide:

  • Food - 3 meals per day plus snacks for the student in your home
  •  Accommodation - A furnished, private bedroom with a study desk and lamp
  • Facilities - internet, bathroom (private or shared), laundry and access to communal areas
  • Care - washing, ironing, transport to and from the College, security and safety.
  • Compassion - time to support students, interest in cultural exchange, guidance in navigating the local area and help as they learn English 

Who and How Long?

Students come from a variety of countries and cultures. They range in age from 12 to 18 years old.  Students will have a basic level of English.  Students can stay for as little as 2 months to a year or longer.  You can host a student for all or part of the time.

Can I host short-term students?

Yes, you can. Ask us for more information about our study tour groups. Student in these groups stay from one week to a maximum of one term. 


Host families will receive a generous remuneration for hosting international students. This money is paid in arrears once per month. More information is available upon completion of the Expression of Interest form.
