Year 2 | Moreton Bay Boys' College

Task 1: How the World Works

SIMPLE MACHINES

Using examples of simple machines as the driving force in this unit, students explored ideas of a lever, pulley, inclined plane, wheel and axel, screw and wedge in their designs, in making experimental drawings before using construction as the vehicle for expression.

TASK 2: Where We are in Place and Time

MY PLACE PORTRAIT

Students identified a significant place at school where they have a personal connection, which reflects part of their personality and helps to form their identity. Elements of painting, drawing and symbolism were applied to enhance students’ ideas of belonging.

TASK 3: How We Express Ourselves

STORYBOOK

Students explored the story of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle which inspired artworks of small critters that are currently being woven into a story which is set in the grounds of MBBC. This is a fitting tribute to Eric Carle who passed away this year, leaving a valuable legacy as renowned artist and storyteller.
